Orin Line Barber — North Lane
A barber working through the back of a short haircut with clippers in a daylit shop

Three chairs · north lane

Clean lines,
no rush.

A small shop built on one idea: a haircut should still look deliberate in week three. Scissor work, skin fades, beard shapes, hot towel shaves — and an honest answer about what your hair will actually do.

  • Tue–Fri 9am–7pm
  • Sat 8am–4pm
  • Walk-ins before noon
  • Closed Sun & Mon

The cut list

What we do,
how long it takes

Eight things, done properly. Every price below is the price in the chair — booked or walked in, weekday or Saturday.

Card and cash both fine.
Every cut except Buzz & Tidy includes a wash and a dry finish.

01

Line Cut

Scissor-and-clipper cut with a soft taper through the sides. Washed, dried and finished with product you could buy anywhere.

£38 45 min

02

Skin Fade

Clippers taken down to the skin with a long blend into the top. We check the fade with you standing up, not just sat in the chair.

£42 50 min

03

Scissor Crop

All-scissor work for thick, wavy or curly hair, where clippers would flatten the texture you came in with.

£44 55 min

04

Beard Shape

Outline, length check and a razor finish on the cheek line. Oil worked through on the way out.

£26 30 min

05

Hot Towel Shave

Two towels, pre-shave oil and a single-blade pass with the grain. It isn't quick, and it isn't meant to be.

£40 40 min

06

Cut & Beard

The full sit. Hair first, beard second, so the two lines agree with each other instead of competing.

£58 70 min

07

First Cut — under 11s

Short, calm, chair three, and no lecture about sitting still. Grown-ups are welcome to stay close by.

£24 30 min

08

Buzz & Tidy

One length all over with the neck and ears squared off. In and out before the kettle boils.

£20 20 min

How a visit runs

Four steps, start to finish

Most people hesitate because they aren't sure what to ask for. Here is exactly how a sitting goes, so you don't have to guess.

01

Tell us the last cut

Send a note saying how long it has been and what you didn't like last time. That tells us more than a photo ever does.

02

We hold a chair

You get two time options back by email, each with the barber's name on it. Reply with the one that suits.

03

Five minutes of talking

Before anything is switched on we agree on length, where the line sits, and how much work you want to do at home.

04

Cut, then checked

We finish, dry it, and look at the back and the crown together. If it needs another five minutes, it gets another five minutes.

The room

One mirror wall, three chairs

A barber trimming a client's beard beside a mirror in a warmly lit barbershop
No music loud enough to shout over, a kettle that stays on, and a bench by the window for anyone waiting out a walk-in slot.

The chairs

Who you'll be sitting with

Three barbers, three different sets of hands. Ask for a name when you request a chair, or leave it to us and we'll match the cut to the right one.

Chair one

Orin Vale

Scissor work · grown-out shapes

Best with thick hair that has been cut too short by somebody else. Will happily spend a whole sitting bringing a shape back rather than starting again. Books out fastest on Saturday mornings.

Chair two

Merce Hollan

Skin fades · beard lines

Fast hands and slow checks. Likes a sharp weekly line, and will talk you out of a skin fade if your hair or your routine is going to fight it.

Chair three

Tobin Ashe

Hot towel shaves · first cuts

The quiet chair, nearest the window. Good with under-elevens and with anyone who hasn't sat in a barbershop for a few years. Takes the Thursday evening sittings.

Shop notes

Three things from this week

Empty barber chairs lined up along a mirrored wall before opening
Tuesday, ten minutes before the first sitting. The quietest the room gets all week.
Combs, scissors, clippers and finishing products laid out on a barber's counter
Combs, oils, and the only two sets of clippers we have ever bothered replacing.
A barber checking the taper at the back of a client's head in window light
A taper checked twice under window light, which is less forgiving than the mirror bulbs.

Good to know

Before you sit down

The questions we actually get asked, answered the way we'd answer them at the counter.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes — before noon, Tuesday to Saturday. After midday the chairs are held for requested sittings, though it is always worth asking on the day if someone has moved their time.

How far ahead should I ask for a chair?

About a week for Saturdays, a day or two for weekday mornings. Thursday evenings open up once a week in chair three and tend to go first.

What if I don't know what to ask for?

Bring the problem rather than the solution. “It goes flat after four days” or “the back grows out square” is far more useful than a style name, and we'll suggest the cut from there.

Do you cut long hair?

We do. Scissor Crop covers anything from collar length upwards, including layered and curly hair. If you are growing something out, say so in your note so we only take off what the shape needs.

Is a wash included?

Every cut except Buzz & Tidy includes a wash and a dry finish. If you would rather skip it, tell your barber at the start and we'll take the time off the sitting.

Can I move or cancel a sitting?

Reply to the confirmation email any time before the day and we'll move it, no charge and no questions. Same-day changes are fine too — we just might not be able to offer the same barber.

Do you cut children's hair?

Under-elevens sit in chair three with Tobin, usually first thing when the shop is quiet. Mention their age in your note and we'll book the calmer end of the day.

Can I book a beard or shave on its own?

Yes. Beard Shape and Hot Towel Shave are both standalone sittings. If you want both hair and beard in one visit, choose Cut & Beard so the time is set aside properly.

Tell us the cut and the days that work

We read these between sittings and reply by email with two time options, each with a barber's name on it. Nothing is charged online, and nothing is held until you reply.

Walk-ins before noon, Tuesday to Saturday — no request needed.
